“52 Reasons to Hate my Father” by Jessica Brody is
about the story of a bratty, rich, 18- year old girl, who has to suffer the
consequences of her actions. (Or so she thinks.)
Lexington Larrabee is the youngest daughter of the
CEO from the multi-billion dollar company, “Larrabee Media”. Her dad, Mr.
Larrabee, had never shown up to any important events that mattered to Lexi. Like her
birthday, prom, graduation, etc. Despite these hardships, Lexi doesn’t seem to
care. The only thing that has any meaning to her including her father, is the
twenty-five million dollar check she will be receiving on her eighteenth
birthday. (As her trust-fund). But her father has different plans, while Lexi
has constantly been drinking and partying with friends, her father worried. He has been keeping a secret from all his 4 children, that
their mother, (his wife) was an alcoholic. She got into a car accident, which
led to her death, (when Lexi as only 2.) Mr. Larrabee was
concerned and decided to have a plan for Lexi over a one year time spread. She
had to complete 52 low-paid jobs to receive her trust fund. Obviously Lexi was
angry but she gave in. Towards the end of the book she realizes, that her
father set those specific jobs up for her, because each one was 52
millionaire’s first job. He wanted her to become successful. When I finished
the book, I realized, sometimes the way you see things aren’t always the way
they really are. For example, Mr. Larrabee’s plan for Lexi; she saw it as his
joy of torturing her, when really he didn’t want to loose like he did his wife.
Not only that, he also wanted her to be successful. I really enjoyed this book,
it did touch my heart, and made me realize that, my parents, my teachers, and
other important people in my life want what is the best for me.
I liked ho you gave a summery of the book. And how towards the end you told us the readers what this book meant to you, and the lesson it taught you. You told us the feelings that some of the characters had which I was a nice touch. Overall really liked your blog.
